Many people nowadays actively want to find collectible historical memorabilia as it is an area that encompasses an extensive array of topics whether your specialty is books, furniture, militaria or ancient documents there is always something extraordinary that you discover or want to have. I never set out to find collectible historical memorabilia and you may, like me, have ventured into by accident rather than by design. To countless people it is a hobby, to some a business and to others a passion.
The reason that I first set out to actively find collectible historical memorabilia came as a result of the passing of my Grandparents and my inheriting a number of small yet beautiful Hummel Porcelain Figurines. It’s not something that I would have expected to be so enthused by, but I do appreciate quality items when I see them. As well as the figurines and just as interesting for me was the discovery of some old documents from World War II which were found in a small house safe. My Grandfather had kept all his military papers, ID, ration books etc from the war and this to, really pricked my interest and I set out on my quest to find collectible historical memorabilia that would relate to my Grandparents and perhaps a little more understanding of the people I wish I knew better.
In addition to objects from the past, you can find collectible historical memorabilia is a term that can also relate to items from the present. One of the most popular fields in the modern genre and certainly a passion of mine in which to find collectible historical memorabilia would have to be Television and Movies. Although I myself amass autographs from both the big screen and small simply because it’s something I fell in love with through viewing, there are those (like my friend) who will bring together and find collectible historical memorabilia for different reasons. His father was a stuntman/stunt coordinator who in his long career worked on movies such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Whilst his father was working on such movies he himself was given an uncredited bit part as a Jawa in Star Wars and thus his love and mission to find collectible historical memorabilia was born, not merely with toys and action figures, but with real movie . He himself also went on to have a passion for original Movie Posters and jokes that he now has Action Figures, Toys and many other items lovingly untouched and carefully stored in his home.
As well as the entertainment industry, modern culture is also a rich source in which to find collectible historical memorabilia. Individuals may also have a passion for topics such as Coca Cola, Budweiser, Baseball, NASCAR or even McDonalds all of whom produce either toys, diecast models, bottles, glasses, cards and a myriad of other items, some of which may even cross over various areas of appeal. So from antiques and old documents, to movies television and pop culture, go out there and fill your fantasy and fill your mind as there is a multitude of objects out there, whatever your penchant may be, if you desire to find collectible historical memorabilia it’s out there.
